Hospital confinement benefit as part of a travel insurance policy can be a useful benefit. Usually provided as part of the medical and emergency expenses section of the insurance policy, this element of cover will compensate you up to a stated amount within the travel insurance terms if you sustain bodily injury or illness whilst on holiday outside the UK and are admitted to hospital abroad as an in-patient. The travel insurance company will normally pay a set amount per complete 24 hours for which you are hospitalised with a limit for the maximum amount that will be paid.
World First travel insurance includes hospital confinement benefit of £10 per complete 24 hours up to a maximum of £1000. This should not be confused with the emergency medical expenses section of your travel insurance policy, which covers the cost of emergency medical treatment either as an inpatient or as an outpatient at a hospital abroad during the period of your holiday and travel insurance.
