Travel Insurance For Long Stay Trips

Need travel insurance for a long trip? If you are planning to travel for longer than normal and need travel insurance for up to a year, then World First offer a range or travel insurance for backpackers and anyone else thinking of taking a year out.

Long stay travel insurance is not really any different to travel insurance for short breaks. You should still look for the same levels of cover such as £5m medical and emergency expenses. If however you are visiting lots of different countries then you should make sure your travel insurance covers each country. Most travel insurance policies will not cover any claims if you are visiting a country that the FCO advise against, so it’s best to check with the FCO first.

If you are backpacking or looking for a bit of excitement then make sure that the long stay travel insurance covers all the activities you might want to enjoy such as skiing, snowboarding, banana boat riding, bungee jumps and scuba diving. World First long stay travel insurance covers over 75 hazardous sports and activities as standard, with upgrade options for winter sports.

If you have any pre-existing medical conditions then remember that you will still need to declare them before you travel. Your travel insurance company should have a separate health screening telephone number for this and make sure you are provided with written confirmation that you are covered by your travel insurance for any claims arising from medical problems whilst you are on holiday.
