Travel insurance companies are often accused of having too much small print in their holiday insurance documentation and it is unfortunate that a lot of travel insurance claims are often declined as a result of something in the policy terms and conditions.
All travel insurance policies are normally broken down into sections listing the cover and then the exclusions. For example the cancellation and curtailment holiday insurance section of a policy will list different instances where you would be covered such as death, accidental bodily injury and illness. And it will then list when you would not be covered such as the first £40 of any claim, which is known as a travel insurance excess (see our travel insurance jargon buster). Then, there will be General Exclusions, which are applicable to all sections of the policy. For example, you may not be covered under any section of the policy is you fail to comply with the health conditions and do not declare pre-existing medical conditions for any members of your party.
World First travel insurance works hard to make sure that the insurance documentation is easy to read so all clients know exactly what their travel insurance covers. If you are applying by phone it is often easier as you will be asked a series of questions when you arrange your insurance. The travel insurance guide lists all the main sections of a travel insurance policy and explains what each section of a travel insurance policy is designed to cover, and more importantly we provide useful tips to help worldwide travellers get the most from their travel insurance cover and to ensure you buy the right travel insurance in the first place.
