Scuba Diving Travel Insurance

Travel insurance for scuba diving is often included for free within a lot of travel insurance policies, but be sure to check the policy wording. Some travel insurance policies that cover diving will restrict the depth you are covered to dive to. For example, it is quite common for scuba diving travel insurance to restrict your cover to depths less then 30 metres.

The World First Traveller policies cover scuba diving to 30 metres as standard. Beyond that you will need to seek specialist travel insurance for diving holidays.

Of course, when buying travel insurance for dive holidays it is also important to check the rest of the policy cover. Be sure to look for travel insurance that covers at least £5m of medical emergency expenses and repatriation home in the event of an accident whilst abroad. You should also check to make sure your dive travel insurance also covers any sports equipment you may be taking with you on your dive holiday although the Travel Insurance Guide recommends extending household insurance policies to “all-risks” as dive equipment is often much more valuable than the maximum cover available under standard travel insurance policies that cover diving.

If you are going on a dive holiday, you will also want to enjoy a few other activities so it’s always advisable to make sure your dive travel insurance covers everything you intend to do whilst on holiday whether it is golf, other action sports, sailing or just chilling by the pool.
